How to Choose the Right Mounting Part

A mounting part must transfer the cylinder force into the machine without creating side load. Use a rigid mounting when the load direction is fixed, and a pivoting mounting when the load moves through an arc.

Pins and Clevises: What to Check

In pivoting mountings the force passes through the pin. An undersized pin bends, ovalises the bore and lets the cylinder run with play. Select pin material and diameter for the cylinder’s maximum push force and grease pin bores regularly. On long-stroke cylinders a clevis with a rod eye tolerates misalignment and reduces rod buckling and seal damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is mounting equipment matched to the cylinder?

Yes — parts are selected by bore and rod diameter; just state the cylinder model.

Why is side load harmful?

It wears the rod bearing and seals on one side, causing leaks and rod scoring.

When should foot mounting be avoided?

At high push forces the bolts see a bending moment; a flange mounting is better.

What does a rod eye do?

It tolerates small angular misalignment at the rod end and protects rod and seals from side load.
