Hydraulic Flow Rate – FAQ
How do you calculate hydraulic flow rate for a cylinder?
Q = A × v. In metric: Q (L/min) = A (cm²) × v (m/s) × 6. In US units: GPM = A (in²) × v (in/min) / 231.
How fast will my cylinder move?
v = Q / A. A 40 L/min (10.6 GPM) pump moves an 80 mm bore at about 0.13 m/s (5.2 in/s).
Why does the calculator show cm³/s?
It takes speed in cm/s; L/min and GPM equivalents are shown below the result.
