What Is a Joint (Rear Hinge) Connection?
A joint connection is a rear mounting fixed to the cylinder’s end cap that lets the cylinder pivot on a pin. When the load moves through an arc, the cylinder can change angle with it.
Its counterpart is the place (floor) bracket on the machine, and it is used together with a clevis or spherical eye on the rod end.
| Position | Cylinder rear cap |
| Motion | Pivots on a pin |
| Counterpart | Place bracket; clevis/spherical eye on the rod |

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a rear hinge used?
When the load moves through an angle and the cylinder must follow it.
Hinge vs place bracket?
The hinge is on the cylinder, the bracket on the machine; together they form a pinned joint.
Should the pin be greased?
Yes — regular greasing reduces wear and play.
