What Is a Middle Joint (Intermediate Trunnion)?
A middle joint connection is a trunnion placed near the middle of the cylinder body. With the pivot at mid-body the installed length stays short and the rod is better protected against buckling than with a rear hinge.
The trunnions sit in H- or U-type bearing brackets on the machine.
| Position | Middle of the body |
| Benefit | Short installed length, better buckling resistance |
| Used with | H- or U-type bearings |
