What Is a Trunnion Cylinder?
A trunnion cylinder has pivot pins projecting from both sides of the body, so the cylinder can swing in one plane. When the load moves through an arc, the cylinder follows it instead of forcing side load into the rod.
Trunnions sit in H- or U-type bearing brackets; the trunnion position (front, middle, rear) sets the swing angle and the free buckling length.
