Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacturer in Turkey
A practical guide for engineers and buyers sourcing hydraulic cylinders from Türkiye: why Turkish manufacturers are competitive, how the EU customs union affects your landed cost, how to vet a supplier, and what to ask for before you place a first order.
Written by Fenitsa, a hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder manufacturer in Konya that exports to Europe and the Middle East.

Why Buyers Source Hydraulic Cylinders From Turkey
Established machinery industry
Türkiye builds agricultural machinery, construction equipment, presses and vehicles at scale, so tube, rod, seal and machining supply chains are mature and competitive.
Customs union with the EU
Industrial goods move under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union with an A.TR certificate — no customs duty on qualifying cylinders shipped to the EU.
Short transit to Europe
Truck transport reaches most EU countries in days rather than the weeks needed for sea freight from Asia, which keeps safety stock and working capital low.
Engineering flexibility
Turkish manufacturers are used to medium batch sizes and custom designs, not just mass production, which suits OEMs with many variants.
Cost level
Competitive labour and overhead costs give a lower price than Western Europe for comparable quality and materials.
Time-zone overlap
Working hours overlap with Europe and the Middle East, so drawings and questions are answered the same day.
Where Turkish Hydraulic Cylinder Makers Are Based
| Region | Profile |
|---|---|
| Konya | Traditional centre for agricultural machinery and hydraulics; many cylinder, pump and valve manufacturers in the Organised Industrial Zones |
| Istanbul and Kocaeli | Largest industrial base; general machinery, automotive supply and many traders and distributors |
| Ankara | Defence, construction machinery and heavy engineering suppliers |
| Bursa | Automotive and textile machinery cluster |
| İzmir and Manisa | Agricultural and white-goods machinery, export-oriented manufacturers |
Directories list dozens of names, but many are distributors. If you need drawings, test records and repeatable series quality, work with a company that actually machines, assembles and tests the cylinders itself.
How to Vet a Turkish Cylinder Supplier
A checklist our own export customers use.
- Manufacturer or trader?Ask which operations are done in-house: tube honing, rod plating, machining, assembly, testing.
- Quality systemRequest the quality management certificate and a sample final inspection or pressure test report.
- Engineering capabilitySend a real enquiry and judge the drawing and technical questions you get back.
- Materials and traceabilityTube, rod and seal specifications should be written on the drawing; ask for material certificates on critical orders.
- Export experienceCheck that the supplier handles export packing, A.TR or origin documents and your preferred Incoterm.
- First-article orderStart with a sample or small batch and measure it before releasing series volumes.
Lead Time, Shipping and Paperwork
Production lead time depends on whether a cylinder is a catalogue size, a modified standard or a completely new design, and on the batch size; your supplier should state it on the quotation and confirm it when the drawing is approved.
Most shipments to Europe travel by truck, either as full loads or groupage. Heavy cylinders and large volumes to distant markets go by sea. Typical documents are the commercial invoice, packing list, A.TR movement certificate for EU destinations (or a certificate of origin elsewhere) and, where requested, test reports.
Agree the Incoterm early — EXW, FCA, CPT/CIP or DAP each shift freight cost and risk differently — and make sure cylinders are shipped with ports plugged and rods protected.
Understanding Your Landed Cost
Compare suppliers on total cost, not unit price.
| Cost item | What to check |
|---|---|
| Unit price | Quoted per drawing and quantity; confirm what is included (paint, cushioning, mountings, test report) |
| Export packing | Crates or pallets suitable for the cylinder length and weight; rods protected, ports plugged |
| Freight | Full truck, groupage or sea freight; depends on Incoterm, volume and destination |
| Customs duty | Normally zero for industrial goods shipped to the EU with an A.TR certificate |
| Import VAT and clearance | Charged in the destination country; usually recoverable for VAT-registered businesses |
| Inventory and lead time | Shorter transit than from Asia reduces safety stock and cash tied up in goods in transit |
Common Mistakes When Importing Hydraulic Cylinders
Ordering from a part number only
Catalogue codes differ between makers. Always confirm with a dimensioned drawing.
No drawing approval
Approve the drawing before production so fit problems appear on paper, not on the machine.
Wrong port threads
BSP, metric and other thread standards look alike; state the thread type explicitly.
Unclear pressure rating
Agree working and test pressure in writing, and ask for the test record.
Poor transport protection
Long rods need support and protection; a dented chrome rod ruins the seals.
Skipping the first article
A small first batch reveals problems before they are multiplied in series.
What Quality to Expect From a Turkish Cylinder
Established Turkish manufacturers work with the same material grades used across Europe: honed St52 (E355) tube, hard-chrome-plated C45 rods and branded seal packages. The real differences between suppliers are in process control — tube straightness and surface finish, chrome thickness, weld quality, seal installation and how consistently each cylinder is tested.
Ask for these values to be written on the drawing and verified on the first article: bore tolerance and surface finish, rod chrome thickness and tolerance (for example ≥ 20 µm, f7), test pressure and holding time, and the paint system. A supplier who can state and document these figures is usually one who controls them.
At Fenitsa every cylinder is pressure tested before painting, and the same approved drawing and test procedure are used for every repeat order, so the hundredth cylinder matches the first.

Sourcing Hydraulic Cylinders From Turkey – FAQ
Why source hydraulic cylinders from Turkey?
Türkiye has a large, experienced machinery supply chain, competitive labour and material costs, short road transit times to Europe, and a customs union with the EU for industrial goods. For many European buyers that combination means lower landed cost than Asia with lead times closer to local suppliers.
Do hydraulic cylinders from Turkey pay EU customs duty?
Industrial goods that are in free circulation in Türkiye move under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union with an A.TR movement certificate, so no customs duty is charged. VAT and import formalities still apply; check the details for your product with your customs broker.
Where are Turkish hydraulic cylinder manufacturers located?
Mainly in the industrial regions of Konya, Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and İzmir. Konya in particular has a long tradition in agricultural machinery and hydraulics — Fenitsa is based in Konya Organised Industrial Zone.
How long does delivery from Turkey to Europe take?
Road freight to most of Central and Western Europe typically takes several days to two weeks depending on destination and consolidation; sea freight is used for heavy or high-volume shipments. Production lead time is quoted per order.
How can I check a Turkish supplier before ordering?
Ask whether they manufacture or trade, request a quality certificate and a sample test report, review a drawing they produce for you, and start with a first-article order. A video call walk-through of the plant is a quick way to confirm capacity.
