What Is a Foot Mount?
A foot mount uses L-shaped brackets to bolt the cylinder to a machine surface below or beside its body — a practical solution when the mounting surface is parallel to the cylinder axis.
Because force is transmitted off-axis, the bolts see a bending moment; at high forces a flange is better, and the load must be well aligned.
| Type | Rigid, side/base mounting |
| Benefit | Easy mounting on a parallel surface |
| Watch out | Bending moment on the bolts |

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a foot mount used?
When the cylinder is mounted on a surface parallel to its axis.
Is a foot mount suitable for high forces?
A flange is better, because foot bolts see a bending moment.
Why is alignment important?
Misaligned loads side-load the rod and wear the seals.
