What Is a Tandem Cylinder?
A tandem cylinder has two pistons in line on the same axis, both pressurised together. It delivers roughly twice the thrust of a single cylinder of the same bore — the answer when a larger bore will not fit the machine.
The price of that extra force is a longer body and double the air consumption, so choose tandem only when space rules out a bigger bore.
| Gives | About 2× the force from the same bore |
| Costs | Longer body, more air |
| Typical use | High-force clamping and pressing in tight spaces |

Frequently Asked Questions
How much more force does a tandem cylinder give?
Theoretically about twice that of a single cylinder with the same bore, because both piston areas add up.
Tandem or larger bore?
If there is room, a larger bore is more economical; tandem is for when the diameter is limited.
Which bores are available?
Bores from Ø32 to Ø320 mm, built per project.
