What Is a Double-Rod Cylinder?
In a double-rod (through-rod) cylinder the piston rod exits through both end caps. The piston area is the same on both sides, so with the same pressure and flow the cylinder moves with equal force and equal speed in both directions.
The second rod end can also carry a stop, a sensor cam or a guide, and the two rod bearings give the rod better support against side loads than a single-rod design.
| Gives | Equal force and speed both ways |
| Extra | Second rod end for stops or guidance |
| Typical use | Synchronised motion, positioning, guided loads |

Frequently Asked Questions
Why use a double-rod cylinder?
For equal force and speed in both directions and a second rod end for stops, cams or guidance.
Is the force lower than a single-rod cylinder?
Yes, on the push side, because the rod area is subtracted on both sides.
Which bores are available?
Bores from Ø32 to Ø320 mm, built per project.
